Under normal conditions, the galvanized surface reacts with oxygen in the air to form a fine protective film of alkaline zinc carbonate and exhibits high corrosion resistance. This is a physical protection effect. This is called electrochemical protection. Similar effects apply to trimming and spot welding, so galvanized steel sheets can usually be used as they are.
