Steel sector PMI in Hebei falls to 47.7 percent in June 2025.

This years, the PMI of the steel sector in China’s Hebei province announced a decrease to 4.0 % points months on month by the Hebei province Metallurgical Industry Association ( MIA). In June, the trend of the PMI for the steel sector industry in Hebei province was the same as the whole of China. The decrease by 0.5 % to 45, 9%, as announced by China Steel Logistics Committee (CSLC).

In this months, the production index increased by 2.5 % points to 45, 5% is indicated a contraction in production  .

On the other hand, the new export order index increased significantly by 10.6 percentage points to 55.3%. This suggests a growing demand for Hebei’s steel in international markets. The improved situation in the global steel market seems to be exerting a positive impact on China’s steel exports.

In June, Hebei Province’s steel sector exhibited a mix of trends. On one hand, there was a decrease in production and inventory levels for both finished steel and raw materials. On the other hand, there was an increase in new export orders and finished steel product prices. The decrease in raw material prices could potentially benefit the sector by reducing production costs. However, the decrease in raw material inventory levels indicates that the sector might not be fully capitalizing on these lower prices yet.

The increase in finished steel product prices is likely driven by the rise in export orders, but this trend might be short-lived, as steel prices are expected to decrease in July due to anticipated slack demand. These trends suggest a dynamic and potentially challenging environment for Hebei Province’s steel sector, influenced by various factors.
