Three solar installation systems for commercial building rooftops

Some large commercial buildings have open, flat roofs, which are places where sunlight lasts longer. How to build a photovoltaic mounting system on a flat roof?

1. Flat roof solar carport: The roofs of some commercial buildings are used as parking spaces, and carports with solar panels can be built. This system not only meets the needs of parking spaces, but also uses solar energy to generate electricity and save electricity for daily use throughout the commercial building. Carports typically consist of a solar-mounted steel structure with modules. The roof of the shed is made of BIPV, and photovoltaic modules are used to replace the roof. It not only achieves the power generation function, but also has the function of shading and rainproofing, which can reduce the temperature under the shed by about 15ยฐC.

2. Flat roof solar ballast: This is another type of solar mount that is very economical and practical. On flat roofs with low slopes, many building owners do not want to put holes in the roof. Ground mounting solves this problem: a solar array mounted on top of a recessed component cannot penetrate the roof. That’s where solar ballasts come in, with concrete blocks placed throughout the project to secure the array to the roof and prevent wind or other movement. Choose different types of ballasts according to your needs. Solar ballasts typically include base rails, rail connectors, rear legs, front legs, and different interior/bottom/end clamps.

3. Flat concrete roof mounting system: The solar mounting bracket should be located on a flat roof with a cement base. This solar installation structure usually includes U-bolts, solar panel rail bracket U (21X41, 41X41, 41X52, 41X62mm), connectors, clamps and hexagonal bolts. All profiles and accessories are pre-assembled for easy installation in a short time. The biggest advantage of this installation method is that the size of the U-shaped bracket and the size/position of the holes are universal, making it easier for the installer to assemble the structure. Cold bending production efficiency is very high, which makes Rail U profiles very popular. Some manufacturers usually produce extra quantities as inventory in warehouses (such as GRT Solar). When a photovoltaic project urgently needs photovoltaic panel brackets, the installer/EPC can easily purchase them from the local market.
